About Mitchell Gibbs

Mitchell GibbsMitchell Gibbs is a UK based, multi-nominated composer for film, television, and video games.

Recent work of note includes scores for Slate 10 Pictures’ action-thriller debut; “Sixty Minutes to Midnight”, picking up two awards at the Fantastic Planet Film Festival, including the “Independent Spirit Award”. Mitchell approaches his musical compositions in a very melodic and thematic way, taking strong influences from the Golden Age of Hollywood scoring. Conversely, having spent time as a guitarist in a number of progressive rock and experimental bands, Mitchell likes to inject a modern edge into his compositions, while still retaining their classical sensibility.

Mitchell currently resides in Kent, England, where he is actively working on his first solo instrumental album.

Showcase

Mitchell has been blessed with a gift of being able to transcend the feelings of characters on screen through music.

"Mitchell has been blessed with a gift of being able to transcend the feelings of characters on screen through music. I was stunned when I heard some of the first tracks he created. Mitchell composed and delivered an original, powerful and moving score that totally supported the action and tension I envisioned for my film. Mitchell is an absolute joy to work with and a true composing talent!"

Neil Mackay – Director of Sixty Minutes To Midnight

The tension that Mitchell produced for the short horror, Camping, catapulted the film from creepy to downright disturbing.

"The tension that Mitchell produced for the short horror, Camping, catapulted the film from creepy to downright disturbing. For a five-minute film that was intended to swerve the audience from one place to another instantaneously was only achieved in the seamless diversity of the score. The atmosphere Mitchell created for the film was beyond anything that I imagined it could be and I credit it as the key element in what garnered the film most of its success."

T.A. Ransom – Director and owner of Logan Pictures

Mitchell provided a brilliant score for our film "The Jacket".

"Mitchell provided a brilliant score for our film "The Jacket". The film is a slow burner with horror elements, Mitchell's score was exactly what I was after and really added to the overall tension of the film. Excellent work!!"
